With over 18 years’ experience as a mortgage broker, Geoff Wood, Director of My First Property in the south-east of Melbourne, has helped more than 1000 clients purchase property.

He has seen many changes since he first began his broking career, but one thing that hasn’t changed is his unwavering commitment to the industry.

“I love being a broker because I like helping people to buy their first or second home, seeing their journey over time and knowing I am a part of that success,” he says.

“There’s no doubt that there is constant change, so I am continually looking to adapt my business to deliver more, and to provide a better service to my clients.”

 

Focus on service

Geoff was an early adopter of white label home loans and has been using them for many years, including for his own home loan.

“In my view, white label loans are suitable for anything from one-property loans through to more complex loans, he says.

Geoff currently uses the Connective Home Loans Essentials by Advantedge range of products for many of his customers.

“I like the fact that Connective Home Loans and Advantedge are focused on a pure outcome, which is delivering a home loan to the customer, and that they are constantly investing in making the process simpler and more efficient,” he says.

“I also find it extremely useful to have access to all the relevant client information, so the client can call me if they need to restructure or refinance and I can log in and assist them immediately.”

Having access to a specialist credit and scenarios team also allows Geoff to get in touch with the right people to discuss a client’s loan.

“I generally find three out of every 10 loans through traditional lenders have issues because they’re often not able to provide support for more complex applications,” he says.

“I see white label loans as key to the future of lending.”

 

Digital enablers

Geoff says digital mortgage tools such as client identification apps and digital signature facilities like DocuSign® have been “a game-changer for the industry”.

“From a process, efficiency and user experience perspective, digital signatures are fantastic and the time it saves is phenomenal. I would say it saves at least two working days on every loan,” he says.

He adds that digital document signing has helped to better guide clients through the contract signing process.

Overall Geoff says his customers have given very positive feedback about the white label lending experience and Connective Home Loans Essentials by Advantedge.

“My clients understand that white label is a pure home loan product. White label means we can deliver a great customer experience which is easy, simple and convenient, with ongoing service from the broker.”

Simon was recently looking to refinance his mortgage and consolidate his debts, so approached his broker Geoff Wood of My First Property for assistance.

“I have known Geoff for 15 years and keep going back to him,” he says.
